We’re currently looking for an experienced ‘Group Leader’ for our Software Development department who will support our Scrum teams to create the cutting-edge software (C# .NET, C++) that our professional users rely upon, day in and day out.
What is your role as ‘Group Leader Development’?
You lead our Software Development department: a team of 20-30 professionals, that comprises Software Developers, a Software Architect, Testers and Technical Writers. You’re responsible for organizing, evaluating and coaching team members, as well as leveraging their strengths and supporting them in their professional development.
You oversee the technologies and processes utilized to design, develop, test, document and deploy software. You optimize where possible and ensure that teams working on different applications benefit from each other’s knowledge, methods and third party solutions. Robust processes are important yet you don’t lose sight of the human factor essential to success.
As Group Leader, you coordinate activities taking place within the department, ensuring a balance between day-to-day Sprint work and things that contribute to the department’s long-term objectives. Each year, you set out a vision for the further professionalization of the department and work closely with your team members to realize it. You report directly to the CTO and collaborate with the business lines to set priorities and allocate resources.
What do you bring to the table?
We are in search of a seasoned manager with experience leading teams of developers and a solid familiarity with Scrum. You have a background in computer science (HBO/WO) and a track record in people management (10+ reports). You have the technical breadth to navigate strategic decisions related to e.g. development frameworks, patterns & technologies; software security; quality assurance & test automation and documentation. Of course, you don’t do this alone: you take advantage of the deep knowledge present within your team.
Strong communication skills enable you to translate ZiuZ’s overarching strategy into focal points relevant to your team. Likewise, you listen to your team members to understand their needs and concerns, and you ensure that these are addressed. You seamlessly switch between a multitude of topics and you proactively engage colleagues across the organization. Colleagues at ZiuZ hail from around the world, you must therefore be adept at communicating in both English and Dutch.

We work in a hybrid setup in which we facilitate employees to work in the office and, should they wish to do so, partly from home. This is not a remote-only position.
