In the position of technical writer, you are responsible for producing technical documentation for the products that we sell and support in a service organisation towards customers. Products, both hardware and software, that are based on the latest developments in the field of visual intelligence, with which we want to contribute to socially relevant issues.
What will be your role as technical writer?
As a technical writer, you are in a team of technical writers who, in collaboration with the multidisciplinary product development teams, are responsible for the timely delivery of new and revised documentation that is required for launching new products or modifications to them. This concerns, for example, instruction, user and service manuals, as well as documentation to support our sales, support and training organisation.
For each document, based on the information needs of the target group, you determine the form (text, illustrations, video, web pages, etc.) and the language in which the document is designed. You then seek the information you need for this, for which you will often have to interview technical product and support specialists.
We use MadCap Flare to capture texts, and to generate and manage documents. You produce the documentation in English and Dutch. We use translation agencies for the translation to other languages.
What do you bring along?
The technical writer who we are seeking has several years of experience in producing technical documents, in which demonstrably complex subject matter is explained in comprehensible language for different audiences and for which it has been necessary to independently and proactively gather information to design the documents.
We do not ask for a technical training background, but we do ask for sufficient affinity with technology in order to be able to interview and comprehend technical staff.
